School Sports Activities
St Thomas Aquina School students are encouraged to be involved in school sports. Typically sports offered are –
touch rugby, tennis, netball, orienteering, basketball. Generally a staff member takes responsibility to oversee
the organisation of the sport but parents are encouraged to coach and manage the teams.
Appropriate clothing is expected. Pupils representing the school will be expected
to have a school polo shirt.
Pupils not participating in sport activities are expected to have a note from home or
have had a parent contact the school. This also includes swimming.
Students in the middle and senior classes will compete with Winton School annually at
the Midlands Rugby Grounds. Students who qualify in their events at this meeting then go on to represent us at the

The students who qualify at the Central Zone will represent us at the annual Southland Athletics, which is held
on a Saturday at Surrey Park in Invercargill. Each child will be issued with a red Central top for this event.
